JAY ‘Stretch’ Middleton

Jermaine Middleton was born and raised in Los Angeles, California USA.
Jay didn’t start playing basketball until he was 16 years old!
He decided to look into this sport because of a 7inch growth spurt and his High School coach and mentor Willie E. West Jr. who pursued him for the school team.

Jay was recruited to play for the Crenshaw High School team in 1999 and after graduating High School in 2003 in Los Angeles, Jermaine had an opportunity to continue his High School career at an all boys prep school called South Kent located in Connecticut.

2003 saw Jay signed with Central Connecticut State University where he played for two years before transferring to Northwood University in West Palm Beach Florida USA to continue his basketball career until 2009.

In his two years at Northwood University Jay and his team the Seahawks:
Won 54 Games
Were Back to Back Sun Conference Regular Season Champions
Advanced to the NAIA National Tournament Quarterfinals in 2008
Finished top 16 During the 2009 NAIA
Appeared in 19 games before an unfortunate end to his season with a shoulder injury
High stats across all games in points, boards and blocks!
Jermaine was certainly one of the dominant big men in the Sun Conference!
He is highly skilled around the basket with an extremely soft touch and can rebound the basketball on both ends of the floor.
Jay is a face up player
Ability to run the floor even as a centre
Shoot a fifteen foot jumper
Jump-hook with both hands
And a Blocking ability that everyone is envious of!

At the 2009 Premier Basketball League Draft held at the ESPN Zone in Chicago USA, the two time defending PBL Champions, Rochester RazorSharks added size to their team with their first pick by taking the 7’3” Jermaine Middleton in their first round (9th Pick Overall)

In September 2012 Jay signed with the World-Famous Harlem Globetrotters
With his height at 7’4”, Jay is the third tallest player in the teams history behind former Globetrotters Tiny Sturgess (7’8”) and Dut Mayar (7’6”)
Enjoying a long 5 year career with the Globetrotters, Jay is now working towards new adventures in his future and is very excited to be coming to Melbourne for these never before seen Safe Lace Basketball Camps!
